NDR: Daily ETF inflows have reached a record level

Written by Ned Davis Research | Dec 12, 2024 2:43:50 PM

The Exchange-traded products have had an exceptional year. By November, assets in the funds we track surpassed $10.5 trillion, marking an increase of nearly 40% compared to the previous year. This level of growth was last seen in late 2021. Furthermore, the number of products exceeded 3,800 in November, driven by the rise of new offerings such as single-stock ETFs and option overlay strategies.

On December 3, the 50-day average of daily inflows into equity ETFs reached a record $4.7 billion (chart above). While this coincided with record-high asset levels and product counts, four-week flows relative to the S&P 500 market cap on November 29 reached their highest point since 2016 and the third-highest since the end of the Global Financial Crisis.
